When a compliance problem needs facts, not guesses

Most business disputes start quietly: an audit exception, a hotline complaint, a vendor nobody can explain, or a bank asking questions about a transaction. How the facts are gathered in those first weeks often decides how the matter ends. Our team, led by Alexander Maynfeld, Director of Investigations, brings military and law enforcement backgrounds to independent, documented fact-finding for Florida companies and the attorneys who represent them.

We work under the direction of your counsel, keep the circle small, and deliver organized findings that can support a business decision, a disciplinary action, a regulatory response or litigation. For a deeper look at how this works in practice, read our brief on compliance investigations in Florida business litigation, or see our business litigation investigation services.

Compliance & internal investigation services

01

Internal Audit Support

When an internal or outside audit turns up exceptions that the books alone can't explain, we develop the facts in the field: who the counterparties are, whether addresses and businesses are real, and what happened on the ground.

  • Vendor and counterparty verification
  • Site visits and field checks
  • Public-record and corporate research
  • Interview support
  • Documented findings for audit committees
02

AML & Fraud Investigations

Suspicious transactions, shell entities, layered transfers and unexplained relationships. We trace the people and companies behind the activity using lawful public-record, corporate and field research.

  • Beneficial ownership research
  • Shell and nominee entity checks
  • Asset and transfer tracing
  • Related-party mapping
  • Timeline development
03

Employee Misconduct & Embezzlement

Expense abuse, kickbacks, side businesses, ghost vendors, time theft and policy violations. We help leadership and counsel separate suspicion from fact before anyone is confronted or terminated.

  • Discreet background and affiliation research
  • Surveillance where lawful and appropriate
  • Witness interviews
  • Conflict-of-interest research
  • Evidence preservation guidance
04

Regulatory Compliance Investigations

Hotline complaints, policy breaches and regulatory concerns need an independent factual review that holds up later. We work under counsel's direction so the findings fit your legal strategy.

  • Hotline and whistleblower follow-up
  • Policy and procedure compliance checks
  • Mystery shopping and compliance audits
  • Third-party and franchise compliance
  • Organized investigative reports
05

Litigation Support for Business Attorneys

When a compliance matter becomes a lawsuit, the internal review becomes the case file. We support commercial litigators with witness location, background research, asset investigations and testimony-ready reporting.

  • Witness location and interviews
  • Asset investigations before judgment
  • Opposing-party background research
  • Trade secret and non-compete fact development
  • Court-ready documentation

Frequently asked questions

Why use an outside investigator for a compliance matter?

An outside licensed investigator is independent from the people being reviewed, follows a documented method, and can be retained through counsel so the work is organized around the legal questions. That independence often matters later if the matter is challenged or litigated.

Can you work under the direction of our attorney?

Yes. Many of our compliance and internal investigations are retained through outside counsel or general counsel. Whether privilege or work-product protection applies is a legal question for your attorney; we structure our reporting to fit counsel's instructions.

Do you handle AML and financial fraud concerns?

Yes. We research the people and entities behind suspicious activity, including corporate filings, beneficial ownership, related parties, addresses and asset records. We are investigators, not auditors or accountants, and we work alongside your forensic accountants when the matter needs both.

What should we do before calling you about suspected employee fraud?

Preserve records, limit who knows, and avoid confronting the employee or making accusations. Talk to counsel early. A short confidential consultation with us can help define the objective and the scope before anything is disturbed.

Where in Florida do you work?

We are based in Central Florida and work across Florida from Jacksonville to Naples, with most of our work in Central Florida. We are available 24/7 for time-sensitive matters.

Do you take cases other firms turn down?

Often, yes. Complex business litigation, IP, compliance, audits and AML matters are our focus. Many general PI firms decline this work; it is the core of ours.
